The autumn color is like no place else up here in Emmet County, and this is the time of year for it to happen. What’s more fun that leaf peeping with Dan Burkholder? That’s right, Dan is returning to the workshop, this time with his populr iPhonography class. You’re going to go out into the beautiful environs of northern Emmet County, Michigan with the master of the iPone camera.
The way we use our iPhones to photograph is constantly changing and improving. This four-day workshop brings you up to speed with new ways to shoot, edit and stylize your photos, taking you from casual captures to serious artwork. Your every iPhone Artistic urge will have time to flex and stretch, learning the latest skills that empower you to craft images that you’ll be proud to share and exhibit.
No longer limited to working with jpegs, we’ll plunge into the flexible world of Raw files from our iPhones and iPads. From detailed landscapes, to motion studies, to window light, learn how your iPhone excels at photo assignments that only a heavy DSLR could tackle in the days of old. And, yes, learn when it is time to pick up a larger camera for specific tasks.
This will be a tremendously fun and informative workshop with plenty of time to explore the beautiful surroundings and fall color with Dan. There will be some class time, but much of your time will be spent out in the field photographing with Dan while you put your new knowledge to work.
Getting Here and Lodging
When visiting here, your closest airport option is Pellston, Michigan (PLN). Next is Traverse City (TVC) which is about 80 miles to our south. We are located north of Harbor Springs, Michigan near the tiny lakeside, Cross Village.
There are many options in our area for both food and lodging including in nearby Cross Village at the new Spirit Lake Lodge. There are also many VRBO options available. Please use Harbor Springs/Good Hart and Cross Village in your search.

When registered, you will receive a letter explaining the how, where, when and why of it all. Lodging/food suggestions as well. We are located in a beautiful part of northern Michigan and will do what we can to make your stay more than just a workshop. ***Class size is limited.
